Passing on the Words From The Wise
Location: South Tyneside

Much of the valuable information gathered during the Words From The Wise project will be placed into a time capsule and sealed until the year 2104.

The messages will be placed into the time capsule and will compliment the wealth of reminiscences and memories we have gathered during the project.

The first Message To The Future event was held at Jarrow Library on Saturday 27th March 2004. Arts Advance was also promoting the project at the South Tyneside Arts Tryst in South Shields the following day.

Both events were a great success and the response and support from the public was wonderful. The most encouraging aspect, particularly at the library was the number of young people who engaged in the spirit of the day.

Mature residents were keen to relate their life experiences such as seeing men walk on the moon and the fall of the Berlin Wall or the fact that they had lived through many serious conflicts and wished the people in a hundred years a more peaceful life.

On Sunday 28th March, the various community groups and members of the public attending the South Tyneside Arts Tryst were given a sample of the 'Words From The Wise' music hall show by Harry Herring and Tony Haxon and had the opportunity to see a display of pictures and information about the project and make their contributions.
