A WALK THROUGH TIME….
(start date February 2004-finish date 2006)

Aims- to create a themed sculpture trail around an area of the Woodland Park. The theme of the trail is evolution of life on earth, from the big bang to present day.

Description- join our resident sculptor in designing and constructing a sculpture for our ‘walk through time’ trail. Learn about the history of evolution with a hands on approach as you design and build a sculpture.

Your Involvement
A separate school or, community group working alongside the sculptor in residence, will make each sculpture. The time that each group is allocated to work on each sculpture will be flexible between the needs of the school and of the sculptor. The time spent working on the trail by the individual groups could a period of a few days spread over several weeks or just a few days that fit into the schools timetable.

Workshops
The sculptor is happy to work on initial designs within the school, this may include drawings, discussions, research into the period of time, and model making. Trips out to the park will then be required to actually build the sculpture. Again the time/number of trips spent on this are up to the school. Be involved as much or as little as you wish in the process.

What Your Sculpture Will Be Part Of
The sculpture trail will take 2 years to construct, using LHI monies already procured. There are 10 individual sculptures to be made, 5 the first year, 5 the second. Each one has been allotted a workshop time period of 15 working days to build, from design to completion. The advantages for taking part in this project are many:

· the chance to use different materials to build the sculptures
· a hands on approach,
· social interaction between the group,
· a new way of viewing history,
· looking at art in the environment as a new concept to the study room.

If you want to be part of this exciting project then contact the Rangers as soon as possible to book a place in the project.
