Heritage Trails for Blackburn and Darwen Town Centres
Location: Blackburn with Darwen

The aim of the project is to create two heritage trails, which will feature buildings of significant historical and architectural interest, one in Blackburn and the other in Darwen.

Local people will be invited to contribute photographic material, memorabilia and participate in an oral history exercise. Information gathered will be incorporated into a booklet and workbook for children. The trails information will also be developed as an education resource pack for schools. An existing web site, Cotton Town will be upgraded to provide an interactive trail and an e-version of the leaflet with a downloadable narrated audio file.

Professional support will be secured for training in the use of ICT and oral history techniques. A series of public meetings and events will encourage wider participation and publicise the progress of the project.
