Victorian Day at Egerton Park
Location: Bolton

Egerton Park was given to the local community in the 19th century as a "thank you" to the mill workers for not striking whilst negotiating working conditions. It was used by many local groups for a range of recreational activities.

The Society is producing a re-enactment of these traditional activities to raise awareness within the local community of a particular period of history.

As part of the project, local bands and drama groups are preparing to put on performances and acts relating to local stories. Local schools are preparing to have a Victorian football tournament and Victorian recipes will be used for food on the day.

The group is also looking into past traditions. They wish to revive certain traditions such as the Rose Queen Parade.
