"March the Moss" Heritage Trail
Location: Cheshire
The project will create a heritage trail looking at the silk and cotton industries and the history of local peat extraction. It will involve the various generations of the local community in enhancing the landscape and recording its historic and cultural associations.
Professional advisers will work with the local community, including after school clubs, to help them gather information, undertake research and make reminiscence recordings about the area. An exhibition and touring display will also be produced. This will lead on to the physical creation of the trail, including design workshops and activity days to help produce the interpretation boards and a leaflet as well as an orienteering map/questionnaire for younger residents.
A booklet will also be produced documenting the project, for circulation to 500 households, libraries etc. A celebratory launch event including performances around the trail will be held, and information will be put on the Groundwork macclesfield and Vale Royal web site. Some further costs for expert advice, practical work and project management will be covered by other grants and have thus been excluded from the project.
