The Green Bridge Project continued

a view of the hawthorn hedgeThe Project aims to involve as many community groups as possible in conservation projects which positively change their environment. For example Green Bridge will help heritage landscape groups restore traditional hedgerow patterns using native species and declining species.

Historic field patterns can be restored through hedge planting and laying using information gleaned from old OS maps and landscape characterisation studies. This helps preserve local character while increasing the amount of this important habitat available for native wildlife.

Training will be given in the creation and positioning of bat and bird boxes, invertebrate shelters, hibernacula and habitat piles.

A booklet will be produced which captures the knowledge and experiences gained during the project and a celebration event will complete the project with awards and certificate presentations to successful trainees.

Professional support for volunteers will be sourced for the delivery of good quality training and advice.
