Pond Restoration For Wildlife
Venue: Mill Wood, Alderfield Drive Speke

Start time 10am. Likely finish time 2pm. Meet at the green entrance gate.

The aim of this course is to train volunteers in different aspects of pond creation for wildlife. A pond will be created as part of the course, and three additional work days, from an overgrown ditch within Mill Wood.
Areas that will be covered include managing trees near ponds, reprofiling pond banks for wildlife and planting of wetland flora.
Instruction and training will be given by BTCV who will bring suitable tools and work gloves. You should bring old clothes, wellies and waterproofs. If you intend to stay past 2pm and assist the 'Friends of Mill Wood and Alder Wood' group with practical work please bring a packed lunch. Tea and biscuits will be provided.
Additional work days will take place on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 13th of May. Members of the public are welcome to join in on these days as well.

Extreme Wildflower Planting
Venue: Furey Wood

This training course will give attendees the chance to participate in an exciting new project trailing different techniques for establishing wildflowers on difficult sites. Wildflowers areas will be created on steep banks of poor quality soil and these will provide valuable feeding space for a variety of declining butterflies, bees and other insects, as well as improving the visual diversity of the area for people using the area for recreation.

Clayton Crescent Wildflower Meadow Creation Training Course
Venue: Clayton Crescent, Henderson road and Lowerhouse lane, Widnes

The Clayton Crescent Wildflower Meadow Creation Training Event will take place on the 3rd of June. The venue is at the back of Clayton Crescent, Henderson road and Lowerhouse lane in Widnes. Volunteers will get the opportunity to learn how to seed wildflowers and plant plugs to form a meadow as part of environmental improvements to this neglected area. The event will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm meeting at 2 Clayton Crescent .

Black Bear Wildlife Gardening
Venue: Black Bear Allotments, Victoria Park

From 2.30 until 4pm you can join the Allotment Holders at Black Bear Allotments as they launch their new wildlife garden. There will be opportunities to learn more about pond design, make bird boxes, and find out how to plant trees and other plants.
A charge of £1 will be made to cover the BBQ and other refreshments. Please bring suitable footwear.
