Woodland Wildflowers - Mersey Forest
Location: Cheshire

This is a partnership initiative of the 12 Community Forests. The project is involving communities in safeguarding and creating a woodland flora for the future. This will help preserve the fast disappearing flora of British woodlands.

A sustainable source of seeds and bulbs is being produced to enable understory planting in newly created and existing woodlands.

The project is building on the success of the Bluebell Recovery Project which was originally piloted in the Mersey Forest Area. The project has expanded nationwide to incorporate all 12 Community Forests in England. The range of species is much wider than in the pilot project and the seeds will be collected regionally.

To ensure a continued and sustainable seed source a proportion of the collections are being grown by Landlife; a charity with 15 years experience of growing wildflowers to produce seeds of known regional provenance.
