125 Years of Keswick Rugby Club
Location: Cumbria
The Club celebrates its 125th season in 2004/05, which makes it one of the oldest rugby clubs in England. The Club has minute books and playing records together with photographs covering this whole period. They wish to enhance the existing player records by research so that they include social history aspects such as employment, where they were born, died etc.
A voice history library will be created through interviewing past players and officials, a web site and web site archive will be set up, including computer equipment, software and training. A book will be produced covering the club’s history. This will also be available on CD-ROM. Six exhibitions of the project and the history will be held at celebratory events; and a schools pack will be created .
In conjunction with the project, the Club is organising several events to celebrate its history, which will further raise awareness of the importance of this Anniversary, though these are not seeking funding from LHI they will provide venues to celebrate the history through the exhibitions and launches for the outputs.
