Abbey Mill Heritage Project
Location: Cumbria

The group has completed an initial report on the Abbey Mill Cottage; a Grade II listed building whose gardens and environs form part of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Furness Abbey. They now wish to develop the findings of the report into a series of activities and informative display material.

Workshops in Monastic eating and culinary and herbal practice will take place for adults and local school children. Working with a professional artist, the group also intends to create a range of informative material on the vernacular architecture of the building, visually reconstructing how the site would have looked in the late mediaeval period. An informative pamphlet will be produced on the history of the building and an exhibition will take place displaying all the information, including photographic material, collated.
