This project is divided into two phases.

The first phase is preparing and publishing a book provisionally entitled "Life on the Fell". This book is recording and celebrating the life and history in this Cumbrian rural parish.

The book is portraying and describing many aspects of life in and around Cartmell Fell and the Winster Valley. It is drawing on a local archive of photographs, and making them available to the public for the first time.

The book aims to inspire the local community to become involved in Phase 2 of the project. This will involve further research into the wider local heritage and will produce an exhibition of the results.
