Celebrating 40 years of history at Stainton C E Primary School
Location: Cumbria

The aim of the project is to research the 40 years of history of the school from 1964 to 2004. The group will carry out historical enquiry using a variety of information sources, including school documentation, interviewing the community and former staff and pupils and collating the information. The group will source photographic evidence from the school, members of the community and newspapers and develop a digital archive of material for future community use. Members of the local community will be invited into school for research days, to share their memories and pictures from the past. The group then aims to collate all the information and produce a high quality book, with associated CD ROM. The book and CD ROM will be distributed to all pupils, past and present, parents and members of the local community.

To celebrate the launch of the book and the 40th anniversary, a two-day community celebration will be held, one with a school focus and one day with a community focus. The celebration will include an exhibition of photographic data and memories, as well as entertainment.
