Cockermouth Georgian Fair
Location: Cumbria
After months of preparation, getting more intensive by the minute, the day of the Fair itself arrived. Saturday 9th April (chosen as the Saturday nearest William Wordsworth's birthday, and also the last Saturday of the school Easter holidays). The day before was cold, but bright and sunny. Saturday was grey,cold and wet and continued the same most of the time, drying up a bit in the afternoon But this couldn't dampen the enthusiasm as the streets filled with characters and entertainers from the 18th Century.
By 8.30am people were queuing in the rain to get their places on the Discovery Walks.
