Egremont Crab Fair Archive
Location: Cumbria

The Egremont Crab Fair and Sports is one of the earliest and longest running traditional country fairs, first held in 1267. The group wishes to collect, collate and digitise archive materials, such as memories, photographs, memorabilia etc. relating to the fair.

These will be transferred into audio and visual recordings and an exhibition and series of mobile exhibition boards will be produced to display the findings within the local community. Two Interpretation Boards will be produced and sited within Egremont. Talking guides recruited from the local community will be trained by the local Society for the Blind to create a blind orientated oral depiction of the Fair as well as producing a Talking/Braille Board. A book detailing the findings will also be produced with copies being distributed to local schools and libraries as well as local people.
