Levens Heritage Project
Location: Cumbria

The aim of the project is to produce a comprehensive history of the development and growth of the village of Levens.

Working with residents and the local school, the group will obtain oral reminiscences from residents and others born or raised in Levens. Archive documents found in the Cumbria and Lancashire Records Offices will be transcribed as well as information obtained from Kendal Library, Public Record Office and held in private hands.

A web site will be created to feature the collated material as well as photographs which the group will have digitised. An archive and catalogue of the collated material will be created and made available for use for all of the community through CD’s, regular newsletters , lectures and exhibitions. The aim of the exercise will be to encompass all aspect of the social and economic development of the village.
