Living among the monuments: Neolithic Heritage in the Vale of Eden
Location: Cumbria

The project aims to broaden the awareness of, and access to, Neolithic and Bronze Age heritage in the Vale of Eden. The area is a major focus for monuments of this period, including stone circles, henges, burial cairns and rock art sites.

An archaeological field walking survey involving the local community will take place, alongside two workshops to facilitate public access to the finds. A major interpretive Exhibition will be developed, incorporating the results of the field walking; three guided walks will be devised that visit key prehistoric monuments; and three public lectures will be held. Teacher Packs and five school workshops will be used to promote the significance of the prehistoric heritage for future generations. A booklet will be produced and distributed free to local residents and placed in local libraries, museums and visitor attractions.
