Egremont Castle: what the archaeologists say [4401 kb] pdf
Geophysical Survey Report [677 kb] pdf

Phase Two: Egremont Castle, Interpretation & Geophysical Survey
Location: Cumbria

The project will promote awareness of the social and built environment of Egremont in the medieval period. A geophysical survey and research on previous findings will be undertaken. An information booklet will be produced interpreting the findings in non-specialist terms for local people.

The group will investigate and interpret Egremont Manor Court records and use these to interpret the social history of Egremont in that period. Local schools will be assisted to produce their own work based on Court Records. Local people will be recruited and trained to act as castle guides.

The group will present a display in the castle, depicting the castle's history over a medieval weekend in May. Experts will be on site to explain the techniques and findings of the geophysical survey in progress, together with updates, explanation and information boards.

A permanent, fixed display of the findings will be produced and made publically accessible. A portable information package will be available to interested groups. A final high quality booklet including research results will also be produced.
