The group aims to raise local awareness of their area through a variety of means. Firstly the group will publish a high quality local history book of the area as well as creating a Holme St Cuthbert Local History website. A local history resource is to be created and based at the Parish Hall, which will be accessible to all. The resources will include the group’s collection of local history reference books, available on loan; copies of all the local history research material; a digital archive of local photographs; audiotapes of local people’s memories and a family research facility.
The group intends to hold 5 open days, with different heritage themes, in the Parish Hall, where local people, organisations and groups can look at the research and view exhibitions of local photographs. In conjunction with the open days, workshops will be held for the primary and secondary schools in the area.
