Tales from the Loki Stone
Location: Cumbria
Within the context of the annual Kirkby Stephen Walking and Countryside Festival (now in it's third year), the group wishes to organise a guided walk which features heritage performances by the local theatre group the Brough Players, at various istes along the route.
A writer-in-residence will work with members of the Brough Players and the local community to produce a script.
The aim is to use writing and performance as a vehicle for raising awareness of, and interpreting, the landscape and it's associated human connections and local distinctiveness, particularly the strong cultural links with Scandinavia evident in the local dialect and place names.
