Eccleston Heritage Trail & Events
Location: Lancashire

The project was initiated by residents of Eccleston village. Local people hold a great deal of locally focused history and knowledge. The residents are keen to record this local heritage resource before it is too late and is lost forever. This applies particularly to Eccleston's natural, social and built heritage.

The project has three elements:

  • To ensure that the local clog-dancing tradition is passed on to local children by working with a clog-dancing adviser. This adviser will teach local dances and develop a performance which will hopefully result in the development of a clog-dancing group in the village.
  • An Apple Blossoms project with the elders of the village to trace, record, preserve and celebrate Eccleston's orchards and to develop an exhibition and interpretative art works.
  • To investigate the history of both the natural and built heritage of Eccleston's footpaths by researching local history, holding an exhibition, developing several parish walks and developing laminated leaflets of walks in the area.
