Time For Change
Location: Lancashire

The project will work with young people and older residents to undertake research into the industrial and recreational heritage of the brunshaw and burnley area.

Through a series of 30 workshops, and using the services of a writer, comparisons of daily life will be incorporated into a film script, which will form the basis of a dvd. Older volunteers will work with young people with the aim of bridging the generation gap. A filmmaker, other professionals and youth workers will then work with the group to create a film based on the premise of time travel. The group will take the idea of Doctor Who’s tardis as the vehicle for time travel and a designer will work with the young people to build this and other props. A musician will create an original soundtrack and Youth Workers to support the young people will also be employed.

The film will be 45mins in length and will focus on traditions specific to the area and look at the demise of the Mills and cotton trade. Ultimately the film will be sent to all schools in the area as a potential teaching aid and will be offered to other youth groups in the area contemplating similar project. On completion it will be entered into a local film festival. A final report and supporting leaflet will be produced recording the lessons learned and some of the reminiscences.
