Fever Hospital to Foundation Trust, Aintree Hospital
Location: Liverpool
Aintree hospital was originally a Fever Hospital that dealt with tropical diseases which was common because of Liverpool’s connection to the sea. Over the years it has become a University Hospital and a centre of excellence for acute care. As a result of developments in medical provision, there has been radical change within the NHS and soon few people will be able to perceive what health care used to be like.
Interest from hospital volunteers led to the development of this project to involve the local community in telling there stories surrounding the groundbreaking medical developments in Liverpool.
Events such as ‘heritage days’ and drama performances will be put on, an exhibition and a travelling display will be organised and a booklet and CD produced.
