Klondyke Kaleidoscope
Location: Liverpool

The group carried out research into the history of the Klondyke Estate in Orrell, Bootle. The research included the history of the builder of the original estate, ‘Klondyke’ Bill Jones, and the development and decline of local industries from the 19th century.

Local people and businesses were interviewed for their memories and thoughts and a photographic and audio record was produced, detailing the history of the estate.

Research into the working lives of residents, street games of the children, local churches and community groups was also carried out with the interviews undertaken by local children.

This project produced a mobile exhibition, audio CD and booklet which were used to illustrate a series of lectures and exhibitions at local schools and other venues.
