Rice Lane City Farm
Location: Liverpool
The group wish to create a learning and training opportunity for the community of Walton, as well as providing a resource for the people of Liverpool and Sefton.
The project will document and record the history of the Walton park Cemetery site, which incorporates a number of houses, Rice Lane City Farm and Walton woods within its 24 acre site. Prompted by requests for information from visitors to the farm, the group will first research the history of the cemetery site and surrounding area. Information gathered via an oral history exercise, as well as desk based research, will be incorporated into a booklet and trail guide. A 2km trail, which will follow the route of an existing public footpath, will be improved to allow access for all and 10 interpretive panels will be installed throughout the site.
The information collated will then be placed on the groups own web site and through exhibitions at visitor centres at the farm. At least two open day events will take place and these will include guided walks on the improved trail.
