The Oldershaw Heritage Project

The Oldershaw Heritage Project
Location: Liverpool

The project aims to assist children, staff and the wider community to research, catalogue, digitise and exhibit the material held in their archive.

Dr John Oldershaw founded the School in 1920. His life and the journals of a late Master, Maurice Mullet will form some of the research carried out by participants.

Maurice Mullet had extensive journals documenting life in the school and community between 1920 and 1945. The school will launch the project with a ‘Heritage Week’ where local people will be able to donate additional photographs and memorabilia to contribute to the project.

This will include Oral reminiscence activities to collect further material for the archive. People can get involved in workshops where skills will be developed in oral history, archiving techniques, IT and design/heritage interpretation.

Outputs include; a booklet, event guides, website, digital archive available on CD Rom, a drama production and training workshops/event days.

The NBS award will fund the school and wider community to create a mural depicting the history of the school/area over time.
