'Ordsall: Getting Diggy With It'
Location: Manchester

Ordsall Hall is a Grade 1 listed building that dates back to 1354. The group wish to conduct a community dig within the grounds to establish its origins and use. Greater Manchester Archaeological Unit will be involved in the excavation work alongside local volunteers of all ages and abilities. Workbooks charting the findings will be produced and other literature supporting the project will be created. A programme of artistic and creative activities that compliment the dig will also take place. Lanterns will be designed and created by the volunteers, depicting the finds as well as personal experiences and stories and a procession of these will take place around the grounds. A permanent exhibition for the Hall will be put in place in conjunction with local schools and youth groups. An interactive game based on the dig and its discoveries will be devised and produced by students at the local University. The game will permanently add to the learning resources offered by the Hall to schools, colleges and other interested organisations.
