Royton Lives Through the Ages
Location: Manchester

The project will investigate the archaeological and cultural history of the Royton Hall area. Limited, professionally supervised, community excavation of the site of Royton Hall over a two-year period, will lead to a range of opportunities for local people to explore their archaeological and cultural heritage.

Activities will include involvement in the dig itself, open days, exhibitions and interpretation boards, research workshops, oral history recordings, talks, walks, development of two town trails and associated booklet, a web site, and a booklet about the findings from the digs.

There are significant other costs, but these will be covered by other funding, including £5000 NBS to cover the cost of involving 10 schools in the archaeological aspects of the project, and the printing of the town trail guide.
