Boothstown Local History Project
Location: Salford

The group will work with the local community to research the history of the area, including the church and school, to build on material previously gathered.

Local schoolchildren will interview members of the community and gather their memories. The results will be published in a book alongside photographs and stories. The launch of the book will coincide with an exhibition and display. Associated talks and lectures will take place to various local groups. The group will bring in actors to recreate a Victorian school and hopefully the local school will put on a production to present to the community all they have learnt about their local heritage.

The local school children will also produce a photographic record of the present village and record the recent history of the school, which will be included in the publication. The group hopes to engage as wide a range of the community as possible in this project and that the project will continue once the initial work is complete, in particular the recording of peoples’ memories.
