Carrbrook Heritage Trail
Location: Tameside

A heritage trail will be created around the Carrbrook area. Information Boards will be positioned along the trail. A Launch event including guided walks and a well dressing, will enhance public awareness. The Trail will incorporate Industrial, Medieval and Roman heritage.

Individual and group investigations of the area will be undertaken through research in the Archives and interviewing local characters and experts. The group will involve the wider community via public meetings and appeals for locally held resources. Local children will be involved in a survey of Flora and Fauna, studies of local family history and the tradition of Well Dressing.

Manchester University will be commissioned to provide:

1) a Historical and Industrial Archaeological Survey
2) a Landscape Characterisation and Topographical Survey of Carrbrook Valley
3) a Census Survey involving the local community .

Exhibitions will be held in libraries and schools as well as talks and presentations and a leaflet will be produced.
