Gavin Stewart provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to describe in a more artistic way all their experiences during the archaeological work.

The children overwhelming went for the theme about losing things. They are quite right of course - everything we found in our excavation trenches was something someone had lost!

Jolie's poem used the old hob nail boot we found - this quite amused us to how anyone could lose a boot on the common! It was found along with old pieces of uniform fabric and pieces of World War II tank, so we all thought it must have been one of the soldiers testing the tank on the common.
