Bletchley Railway Photographic Archive
Location: Buckinghamshire

A well known gentleman on the railways in Bletchley was Arthur Grigg who during his time as a railwayman collected hundreds of photographs and slides of Bletchley. Many of the pictures have been featured in Arthur’s numerous books, however, some have never been seen by the public. The object of this project was to digitise the photos and put them into a database that can be accessed by the community.

At present the photos have all been digitised, now begins the process of transferring to the database. Originally it was discussed putting the images onto the internet, however, copyright issues have meant that at present this may not occur. The images will however be available to visitors of Bletchley library where they are currently stored on a computer and copies are available at £4.00 each for personal use.

We are also adding to the photographic archive with other railway photos which have been donated by members of the community who have an interest in the project. Photos are brought in and scanned with the originals being returned to their owners.
