**NOW COMPLETED** The restoration of the Denbigh Hall Bridge Plaque
Location: Buckinghamshire

The restoration of a now overgrown and dilapidated plaque attached to the Denbigh Hall Railway Bridge has now been completed. The plaque commemorates the time when the London to Birmingham railway terminated at Denbigh Hall and passengers had to be transported by stage-coach to destinations such as Birmingham. This was until the line from the North reached bletchley and joined up to create the London to Birmingham Railway Link.

Today not many people in bletchley/Milton Keynes even know of its existence or the importance of the bridge; the bletchley Community Heritage Initiative aims to change this.

This part of the project has finally got under way with the Bletchley Community Heritage Initiative commissioning a local stone mason, Mr Les Finn of L.P. Finn Memorials of Towcester, and tree surgeon, Mr Will Tricks, to undertake the restoration of the plaque . As the plaque was originally engraved approximately 1911 it has stood the test of time very well.

The stone mason has restored the lettering and re-engraved some of the letters which are not as visible as before.

The tree surgeon has removed a tree which is blocking the view of the plaque. This was delicate work as the site is right next to a busy main road but now it is done the plaque has returned to the full public view.

The Bletchley Community Heritage Initiative will be holding an unveiling for the plaque and an exhibition later next year which will enlighten the community to the importance of the Railway in Bletchley and how it has added to Bletchley's local history.
