Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Rocks and Landscape Project
Location: Buckinghamshire

Working with volunteers local to each site the project intends to provide access and understanding of the geological resources of the county. This will be done by assessment and conservation work on sites to provide full public access where appropriate, and the installation of interpretation at the sites.

The group also intends to create guide leaflets and self-guided walks around appropriate sites and publish leaflets on local geology. A project based book from the research undertaken will also be published and made widely available.

There will be public events to promote the work and recruit more volunteers and there will be a schools programme to encourage young people to take an interest. Training will be undertaken so that local people can work on their local geological sites.

The project is also supported and will be involving local universities and colleges. Partnership working with local industries and interest groups is also key to this project and include local quarry and aggregates firms and the local and county museums. This will be augmented by a website. Outputs are wide and varied.
