Quilters making the wall hangings
Location: Buckinghamshire
The wall hangings are made from the textile paintings by High March pupils in six workshops held over the Eater holidays.

31 July 2006
Wall hangings
Venue: Beaconsfield

The quilters group has done a wonderful job of arranging the output from the textile paintings completed by High March pupils.
They have designed the wall hangings to incorporate colour, subject and style in a most interesting and eye-catching way. They have brought to life the paintings by using bold coloured fabrics as backgrounds for each wall hanging.
A tremendous amount of cutting and stitching has gone into lining up the paintings so that they would hang properly and the wall hanging would not buckle.
The paintings were of Edmund Waller, Sacharissa, Hall Barn, the Waller tomb obelisk, the Civil War, Cromwell, Charles I and Nell Gwynn. All done by pupils aged 8 - 11.
These will then be hung from black poles with filials and will be displayed in St. Mary and All Saints Church in Beaconsfield. The display will move to the Fitzwilliams Centre on Saturday 9th September to accommodate a wedding which will be held in the church. But they will be back in place on the Saturday evening in time for the concert, the highlight of which will be a talk by Germaine Greer on the life and times of Edmund Waller.
