Beckley Village Community Hall Centenery 1905-2005
Location: East Sussex
Beckley is a small village whose focal point has been the village hall; as the hall has been key to the social events that have taken place in the village. For example, during the second world war medical and dental clinics were held here and the hall has hosted the local 'Brownie' group meetings, who celebrate their 75th anniversary this year.
The local history society are going to invite all the societies, currently over 20, who have had meetings here to contribute to the history of the hall by providing minutes of their meetings and other memorabilia. The exhibition will include different uniforms of the Brownies and Guides and the various activities, which have taken place.
The history of the village school will also feature in the exhibition, current pupils will be asked to help research the names of past pupils and teachers.
