Open day success
Location: East Sussex
Almost 200 people visited St George's Church in Brighton for its open day. Visitors took part in photo dating and were provided with guided tours by guides dressed in regency costume. Regency dishes were served in the church cafe.
People were introduced to the history of Kemp Town by taking double decker bus tours of the parish with historical commentary. Sussex university lecturers gave lecture sessions on Thomas Reed Kemp.
The whole day will be repeated in the autumn to help collect oral histories which will then be used for the production of the groups booklet. The booklet will be sent to local residents.
