Mayfield Habitat Survey
Location: East Sussex

Mayfield was once a large ironworks centre. The landscape has changed a great deal over the years. This scheme aims to build on a successful habitat survey which recorded wildlife habitats and produced a historical record for the area.

It will continue to develop people's skills and knowledge and raise awareness of local natural heritage. It will do this by discovering environmental clues to the historical use of the land and comparing historical data with the present day.

Project outputs will include:

  • an annual exhibition;
  • a web site;
  • leaflets and booklets designed to guide local people and visitors around places of heritage interest.
