And now Waldron at War - the video
Location: East Sussex

November 2004

A video and DVD is now available about the community play Waldron at War, produced in the East Sussex village of Waldron in July 2004

A video is now available about a community play, called Waldron at War, largely funded by the Local Heritage Initiative.

The play was performed in july 2004 and told the story of a small East Sussex village and how it coped with the dangers and deprivations of wartime.

Over 90 villagers of all ages took part with almost as many again working behind the scenes on scenery, costume and stage management.

The video (also available in DVD format) includes a 22 minute documentary feature about how the play was rehearsed and produced, including behind-the-scenes dramas and disappointments.

A full performance of Waldron at War follows the documentary.
The play was a huge success, performing to capacity audiences for four nights.

The video or DVD is now available from the village's pub, The Star in Waldron, or from Ticehurst's Electrical and TV shop, High Street, Heathfield, East Sussex.

Also available is a 56-page booklet of WWII reminiscences which were the basis of the play's plot.
