Accessing Our Maritime Past: The Waters of the Wight (Phase 2)
Location: Hampshire
The project aims to build on the work of the HWTMA's education and outreach work. It focuses on making our underwater heritage accessible to all. The project is based in the HWTMA's Underwater Archaeology Centre in yarmouth, Isle of Wight and highlights archaeological sites in the western solent.
The main objectives of the project are: - create an education pack with a CDRom for school children - create underwater videos of the sites - involve the public with their heritage through the HWTMA Friends scheme - provide basic training in maritime archaeology - hold open days with activities to simulate underwater activities - create mobile displays of HWTMA work - install 'Access Aware' displays in the Sunken History Exhibit for those with visual impairments or learning difficulties
