Forton Lake Project
Location: Hampshire

The group intend to research, record & display the history & archaeology of Forton Lake SSSI area of Gosport which has been in use since the Saxon period.

The project seeks to involve all members of the community in a wide variety of ways, including archaeological fieldwork & survey archival research, collecting photographs & memories from local residents, fieldwork open days school visits, two displays at local centres, public lectures & the production of leaflets.

These outputs are to be achieved by providing training & supervision to volunteers.

The NBS award will add further value to the project by funding a series of activity days which will have specific ‘target audiences’ e.g. disabled members of the community, younger than school age children & families & any other groups that may not be able to engage fully with the main project for any reason.
