Highclere, Past & Present
Location: Hampshire

This project is surveying and recording trees and hedgerows in the parish and placing them in the context of the heritage of the local landscape. Some members of the group are studying the likely age of the trees and hedges by referring to old maps, documents and photos.

Local buildings, barns, milestones and wells are all being recorded for the benefit of future generations. Details of village "personalities" of the past 200 years are also being recorded as the work progresses.

All of the project's research is building on information about local industrial heritage that has already been obtained.

The project is displaying its results at parish assembly exhibitions over the next three years. Project records are being kept at the local library for public viewing.
