Milland: The Book
Location: Hampshire
A village appraisal in 1989 identified a desire by the community to find out more about it's history. This led to a heritage exhibition and booklet in the mid 1990's, which generated demand for a complete village history. In response to this demand, the group plans to produce a book on the history of the village. This will cover all types of heritage, including: past industries, old estates and landowners, individual buildings, important characters, living memories, the Roman influence, mill ponds, old hedgerows, to name but a few. Other outputs will include a booklet that will examine specific aspects of local history in more detail, an exhibition and website and a historical play or pageant produced and performed by local school children. Many older people will also contribute their memories and photos to the project.
