The Time Ring Revealed - Andover Roman Archaeology Project
Location: Hampshire

During the 19th century "reverend gentlemen" investigated several roman villas surrounding Andover. This project will build on this early archaeological discovery by investigating Roman remains and burials at East Anton and by hosting a community excavation at Abbots Ann. They will also hold workshops and talks held by professionals to ensure high quality training and access to professional practices.

A survey will be produced. The local community, Andover History and Archaeological Society, Andover Metal Detecting Club, local schools and young archaeology groups will actively participate in the interpretation and research of Andover's Roman Heritage.

The group will visit schools giving 12 talks and another 20 lectures to the wider community. The group will hold open days for the wider community to engage with their heritage through living history displays, talks and hands on opportunities.

The project will be interpreted through 4000 leaflets, which will be given freely to the local community, and an exhibition with an interactive feature for visitor feedback. The excavation will be recorded in a video and made widely available through a CD Rom.
