The Blean Local History Exhibition
Location: Kent
This weekend long event has now been staged twice, at Rough Common (to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Blean Woods National Nature Reserve) in October 2003 and at Strode Park, Herne (the other end of the Blean) in March 2004.
It consisted of displays of photos, tools, price lists and catalogues and actual people talking about their memories of how the woodlands were managed in the past. Also on show were the tithe maps, aerial photographs and habitat survey for the area, all on computers. A looped power point presentation showed photos of the wildlife found in the Blean.
