The History of Wrotham Publication
Location: Kent

The impetus for this project was a video history of the village, created to celebrate the Millennium.

The video then led to local demand for a complete historical record - published in booklet form - and covering all aspects of local history. This historical record will cover many aspects of village life including:

  • historical buildings
  • local societies
  • health care
  • transport
  • local pottery industry

  • The driving force behind this scheme is the Local History Society - 95% of whom live in the village. Schools will be actively involved, as will many other interested groups and individuals. Elderly members of the community will be a particularly important feature of the project, and will be asked to contribute photographs as well as their own memories.

Other project outputs will include local exhibitions and information packs for schools.
