The Blewburton Hill Project
Location: Oxfordshire

Please see new website -click here

The idea of the project arose from personal attempts to discover the story behind the intriguing terraced Blewburton Hill, overlooking the village of Blewbury. The realization followed that 4 major archaeological studies of both Iron Age and Saxon occupations have been made on the hill since 1947. Many fascinating discoveries have been made during the digs but little has been published beyond the tedious scientific journals.

A recent exhibition was staged at the Blewbury Village Festival in June 2003, which is a well-known and popular event. However many questions remain unanswered which this project hopes to address. The project aims to uncover and publish the story of Blewburton Hill and to increase local awareness of the site. Local school children will be involved in the research process; archaeological material will be published; an information board produced on the site; a book will be produced and a section added to the local Village web site.
