The Crannog Centre, Loch Tay.

The Crannog Centre, Loch Tay.
Location: Oxfordshire

The project leader took the opportunity to visit this fascinating site while on holiday. It is important to our project that we see Blewburton Hill in its proper context, so visits like this are very revealing indeed. Here was a stable Iron Age community adapted to living in an entirely different environment at roughly the same time with evidence of travel and trade throughout the British Isles.
The preservation of building components, everyday tools and even food in the dark, acid waters of Loch Tay are captivating. The underwater archaeological work on the loch is funded by an extremly well organised and interesting tourist centre near Kenmore.
