Woodlands Day
Location: Reading

A free fun day out in the woods for all the family. You have now missed this great day out, but those who did come had a wonderful time and we had great weather too. Woodlands Day
Venue: Clayfield Copse, Reading

The main Woodlands Day event runs from 11.00 in the morning through to 5.00 in the afternoon.

Entrance is open to everyone and is free.

We will have many events and demonstrations, which will be situated mostly on the playing fields adjacent to the woods. They include -

- Horses from the Working Horses Trust extracting timber from the woods.
- A sawmill cutting up the timber
- Falconry displays
- Dog activities - all dogs welcome
- demonstrations of woodland crafts
- Clay making that you can join in
- many guided walks you can join on many different subjects
- Story tellers who will tell you a story
- musicians to entertain you
- a Green Man walking round the site
- basket making
- chainsaw sculpture
- bee-keeping demonstration
- stalls from a number of local environmental groups
- refreshments will be available


The event is part of Reading Children's Festival.







4 June 2005
Bat Walk
Venue: Clayfield Copse, Reading

A evening bat walk will be held at 10pm, meet in the Clayfield Copse car park, bring a torch and warm clothing. Our guide will identify the various species of bats that should be flying about at the edge of the woods.

This event is free.






5 June 2005
Dawn Chorus Walk
Venue: Clayfield Copse, Reading

Meet in the Clayfield Copse car park at 5am in the morning for a guided walk round the woods to enjoy the dawn chorus. Our guide will try to identify all the birds singing and as it gets light we should hopefully see many of them too. Please bring warm clothing and waterproof shoes or boots for the morning dew.
