Church Pound Project
Location: Surrey

The parish of Bramley in the Surrey Hills was a historic resting place for drovers making their way between the main animal markets in Horsham and Guildford.

This project set out to restore an important heritage feature of Bramley village, the animal pound at the front of Holy Trinity Church, which had fallen into a state of disrepair.

As an integral part of the project, Bramley Village History Society would thoroughly research the history of the pound and raise awareness of its heritage significance in the local community.

The restoration would include improving access, particularly for the disabled. Although much of the work would have to be carried out by professional contractors, volunteers could be involved in helping to clear the site and carrying out some of the less technical work.
