The Landscape Heritage of Gatton Park
Location: Surrey
The group aims to involve the community gathering information about the historic landscape of Gatton Park to create a catalogued, accessible archive of documents and draw out the story of the site to then be shared with the local community in a variety of ways.
The project has been broken down into 3 areas:
research done by volunteers and trust members, which will be added to the existing archive and including stories, photographs and other information from past and present users of the park. Training will be provided as well as scanning, archiving etc.
This work will inform the 2nd part of the project - workshops open to the public, local schools & specific interest groups.
The 3rd part completes the collation, interpretation & presentation of the information for outreach purposes, & will include the production of a mobile display & web pages, including some volunteer training to edit them. There will also be a powerpoint presentation, teachers’ resources, & further training sessions as well as production of postcards & a perpetual calendar.
